Farming Activities

Land,Labour and capital are three basic requirements of farming activity. Farmers have its own land or borrowed land from landlords. The Labour are either served by own or hired on wages. The capital is eithe rfarmers own savings or loan and debt from bank and moneylenders respecttively.

Karnataka BJP Crisis

Two BJP ministers Shobha Karandlaje and C.M. Udasi resigned ruling Jagdish Shettar government in Banglore on Wednesday.

The above two ministers,who are close to Mr. Yeddyurappa,quit the BJP and joined Karnataka Janata Party founded by Yedyurappa.

public-interest litigation(PIL)

In Indian law, public-interest litigation (PIL, or जनहित याचिका) is litigation for the protection of the public interest. PIL may be introduced in a court of law by the court itself (sumoto), rather than the aggrieved party or another third party. For the exercise of the court's jurisdiction, it is unnecessary for the victim of the violation of his or her rights to personally approach the court. In PIL, the right to file suit is given to a member of the public by the courts through judicial activism. The member of the public may be a non-governmental organization (NGO), an institution or an individual. The Supreme Court of India, rejecting the criticism of judicial activism, has stated that the judiciary has stepped in to give direction due to executive inaction; laws enacted by Parliament and the state legislatures for the poor since independence have not been properly implemented.

JARAWA TRIBES OF ANDAMAN ISLANDS

The ancestors of the Jarawa and the other tribes of the Andaman Islands are thought to have been part of the first successful human migrations out of Africa. Several hundred thousand Indian settlers now live on the islands, vastly outnumbering the tribes.

The Jarawa hunt pig and monitor lizard, fish with bows and arrows, and gather seeds, berries and honey. They are nomadic, living in bands of 40-50 people. In 1998, some Jarawa started coming out of their forest to visit nearby towns and settlements for the first time.
